The Priest’s House Wedding, Skipton - A Beautiful Spring Celebration
The Priest’s House in Skipton made the perfect setting for James and Abi’s beautiful, heartfelt Yorkshire wedding.
“Tom was wonderful from start to finish. We couldn’t recommend him more highly. We loved how much care he took to get to know us and understand what we wanted. By the time it came to the day we felt so at ease with one another that we could just be totally natural in our photos. The end result is not just the most amazing set of photos we’ll treasure for ever, but some very special memories together too. Thank you Tom!”
James & Abi’s Unforgettable Day
Wow… just wow. I still find it hard to put into words how special James and Abi’s wedding at The Priests House in Skipton truly was. As a wedding photographer, I get to witness a lot of beautiful days—but this one, set right in the heart of the North Yorkshire Dales, genuinely stood out.
Nestled beside the atmospheric ruins of Barden Tower, a Grade I listed building with centuries of history, The Priests House is easily one of the most unique wedding venues in North Yorkshire. From the moment guests were seated in the Old Chapel, surrounded by candlelight and the gentle echo of a classical choir, there was a sense of quiet magic in the air. James, along with his friends and family, even sang during the ceremony—an emotional touch that gave everyone goosebumps. It felt intimate, heartfelt and incredibly personal.
A Calm Morning at Howgill Lodges
The morning started at Howgill Lodges, where Abi and her bridesmaids got ready in the Fisherman’s Lodge. It’s one of those locations that feels instantly peaceful — surrounded by the Yorkshire Dales with huge windows letting in loads of natural light. As soon as I walked in, the room had that relaxed, cosy atmosphere that makes bridal prep feel unrushed and genuine.
Working alongside the super-talented Chrys Chapman made the morning even smoother. Abi and the girls kept things chilled with music, laughter, and plenty of space to enjoy the moment. It set the perfect tone for the rest of the day and gave us some beautiful, soft, natural photos before heading to The Priests House.
A Dream Ceremony in a Historic Setting
After the ceremony, James and Abi headed out for a scenic ride around the estate in a traditional horse and cart—a moment that felt straight out of a storybook. With the sweeping Dales, historic stonework, and wild Yorkshire landscape all around them, every direction offered a breathtaking view. Whether we stopped by the orchard, under the ruins, or along the woodland paths, The Priests House delivered endless opportunities for natural, romantic portraits.
Dinner, Speeches & a Warm Atmosphere
Dinner was another standout part of the day. The food—locally sourced and beautifully presented—lived up to the venue’s brilliant reputation. The intimate setting, warm candlelight and emotional speeches created a relaxed, genuine atmosphere full of love, laughter, and connection.
A Big Celebration in the Old Chapel
As evening fell, the Old Chapel was transformed into a lively party space. Music echoed through the historic stone walls, and the dance floor stayed full from start to finish. It was the perfect ending to a day packed with emotion, joy, and celebration.
Truly Magical North Yorkshire Wedding Venue
Whether you’re planning a romantic elopement or a full celebration of up to 80 guests, The Priests House is one of the most atmospheric and memorable wedding venues in North Yorkshire. The blend of history, landscape, and intimate spaces makes it a place where your wedding day becomes a story you’ll never forget.
